E. Laura Mercado finished high school in Mexico City and graduated as a Bilingual Secretary. She studied English as a second language in Santa Barbara, California. She finished a course in Word Perfect and also received her GED from Edgecombe Community College in Tarboro, NC. She worked for the Seventh-day Adventist Conference in Mexico City as a typing and English teacher.

She has a happy family with her husband - Luis, daughter - Monica, and little son - Luis, Jr. Her hobbies are reading, traveling, and photography.
